Education: to become an optometrist assistant, you'll need to have at least completed your high school degree. Generally, on-the-job training is available for those seeking to begin a career as an optometrist assistant; however, a 1- or 2-year program in medical assisting at a vocational school or community college will improve your prospects in the field of optometry. Coursework in such a program includes medical office procedures, medical ethics, insurance coding and billing, and medical office software.
Demand or need for this career: Optometrist assistants should have strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills. They are often charged with multiple tasks in different areas at the same time, and, thus, they should also be good multitaskers.
I would not want to be a optometrist technician because I want to settle for something bigger and greater but maybe on my way to that something bigger than greater i will need a temporary job so i might become this you know, but no one can predict the future but GOD and none of us happen to bee GOD so who knows maybe i will work as an optometrist technician one day.
